Members of the public are invited to attend a public workshop Tuesday,
March 19 at 6:00 pm at St. Paul Park City Hall (600 Portland Avenue, St. Paul Park, MN 55071) to
learn about transit options being considered in the Red Rock Corridor and
to offer their comments and guidance.
Many changes have taken place in the Red Rock Corridor since the initial Alternatives
Analysis study was
completed in 2007. An effort to update that project with recent land use,
census and ridership data, and recent transit
implementation experience, is currently ongoing. Commuter rail, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and express bus
service are being re-evaluated for potential short-
and long-term implementation in the corridor.
Public participation at this workshop will help identify
characteristics for future service. Activities will include a brief
presentation of project history and an overview of alternatives currently under
consideration. A facilitated,
interactive conversation about transit service along the corridor will be used
to provide guidance to the project team.
The Red Rock Corridor runs from Red Wing through Hastings,
Cottage Grove, Newport and Lower Afton before connecting to St. Paul’s Union
Depot Station and on to downtown Minneapolis. Improved public transit options will enhance mobility for
residents and businesses along the corridor.
Light snacks and refreshments will be available.
If you cannot attend the public meeting but would
still like to have your input about the corridor recorded, please fill out the
short survey found here:
